Bathroom Shower Enclosures

True Elegance: Bathroom Shower Enclosures

I was stunned when I stayed over at my friend Jen's house - she had recently put in a totally new bathroom. When I stepped through the door into the bathroom, there I saw it: a floor-length shower stall, made out of solid stone, and the bathroom shower enclosure was made out of solid glass! That's right - solid glass. You could see everything inside the shower stall.

This type of bathroom shower construction is sometimes referred to as a 'frameless shower enclosure' - so named because this type of bathroom shower enclosure does not make use of a frame mounted onto the wall - the glass is mounted directly to the wall using hardware.

The glass used in these types of units is, of course, very heavy safety glass, which is tempered. For safety the edges of the glass doors and sides are polished to a high degree of smoothness, so that you will NEVER be cut by having your body rub against its edges.

The mounting hardware used in these very special bathroom shower enclosures is also high-quality. They must be: if they were to rust or wear out extensive repairs would be necessary. The mounts are also finished and protected against the high heat and wet conditions of the typical household shower. Mountings are typically made from long-lasting brass, are solid constructions, and come in a variety of finishes such as chrome, nickel, and gold-plate. Wow - showering with gold fixtures - how's that for luxury?

One thing that surprised me about this type of bathroom shower enclosure: it will last longer than the typical framed shower door unit - typically 3-4 times as long.

Have you ever become discouraged with your bathroom shower enclosure because no matter what you do to clean it, it never seems to look like it was when it was first installed? If so, you will be astonished (as I was) to learn that the frameless type of enclosure can ALWAYS be cleaned so that it looks like it was just installed!
