Designer Shower Curtains

Your Very Own Art Museum: Designer Shower Curtains

I love the whole concept of designer shower curtains. The thought of taking something as ordinary as a shower curtain and transforming it into a focal-point of beauty for your home - well, I think that's what modern design is all about: bringing art into unexpected places.

Of course, if you would like to do a little name-dropping, you can purchase designer shower curtains from some of the most respected names in contemporary design: Regent, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, DKNY, Nautica and Liz Claiborne all offer shower curtains, often with matching bathroom accessories. You can purchase these online or through traditional outlets. Sometimes you can find designer shower curtains at a discount, particularly when stores become overstocked, or must change their inventory. Keep your eyes open and you can occasionally find some great bargains!

But there is more. Much More!

Take for example, the designer shower curtains from Bardo: bold patches of alternating red and silver, or gray and silver - reminiscent of the type of patterning one sees in Andy Warhol prints and posters.

Then there's designs from Lengua: completely transparent vinyl with shower-related words like 'shampoo,' 'wash' and 'H2O' emblazoned both vertically and horizontally - the perfect accessory to show off the all-white bathroom.

One of my favorite designer shower curtains is the Tropicana fabric shower curtain: alternating, thin vertical stripes of reds, yellows, greens, blues, pinks and white - to me it seems to bring a little of beach indoors into your home. Bright, airy - with a sixties feel.

If you prefer something that creates a peaceful mood, try the designer shower curtain theme simply called Ship - a watercolor, soft, pastel portrayal of two small sailing vessels, gently moving across the water. It reminds me of something done by one of the Impressionist painters, like Monet or Renoir.

And finally, while we are on a nautical theme, a great designer shower curtain design is called Pulpi - also an ocean-theme. Very small, whimsical sea creatures - octopi, sea-horses, clams - are arranged in a very orderly array on a beautiful, transparent vinyl shower curtain. This one would be a wonderful choice for the older child's bathroom - playful without looking juvenile.

As you can see, I think it's true…You can have your very own art museum - in your bathroom - if you will display designer shower curtains.
